High Parasite has officially released a brand new single, “Drag Me Under“, providing a fresh glimpse into the band’s evolving musical direction as they look toward their second studio album.
The industrial-leaning track, fronted by former My Dying Bride vocalist Aaron Stainthorpe, was originally recorded during the studio sessions for the group’s 2024 debut album, Forever We Burn. However, the song was ultimately omitted from the final tracklist.
Explaining the creative decision to withhold the track, bassist and vocalist Danny “Tombs” Lambert stated:
“We all loved this song when we recorded it for our first album, but it was a little different to the other tracks, with more of a Rammstein kind of vibe. So we decided to hold it back… until this moment. We’ve already started recording our second studio album. We’re looking to the future, so now ‘Drag Me Under’ makes perfect sense, a glimpse into what’s to come.”
The release of “Drag Me Under” arrives during a significant milestone for High Parasite‘s live touring cycle. The band is scheduled to headline their first-ever London show tonight at The Lexington. The performance is part of an ongoing European trek that has already hit multiple cities across Ireland, with additional dates planned for the Netherlands and France.
Produced by Gregor Mackintosh of Paradise Lost, Forever We Burn successfully introduced listeners to the band’s unique, genre-blending identity. Anchored by Aaron Stainthorpe‘s unmistakable vocal delivery, the debut record fused heavy metal, gothic rock, and dark synth-pop into a brooding, emotionally charged sound.
Last October, My Dying Bride officially announced their split from Aaron Stainthorpe. The departure occurred less than a year after the doom metal veterans recruited Mikko Kotamäki of Swallow The Sun to handle lead vocals for their 2025 live appearances.
