Lee Gaze, the former lead guitarist of the defunct rock band Lostprophets, has revealed he is working on a new musical project that is more in line with the “rockier/heavier” sound of his former band. The news comes just weeks after the prison-stabbing death of his disgraced former bandmate, Ian Watkins.
Gaze announced the new project on social media, stating that while details are currently being kept under wraps, a potential singer has been found. He also confirmed that his longtime bandmate and fellow Lostprophets veteran, Stuart Richardson, has been involved in mixing the new material. Both Gaze and Richardson are also members of the band No Devotion, which they formed in 2014 with Thursday frontman Geoff Rickly. Gaze clarified that this new venture will exist alongside No Devotion.
Mixing some tracks to send to a potential singer. Stu is also involved. Hoping to release this in 2026.

It has tracks as heavy as Ride and as poppy as Last Summer. An eclectic mix

While work on this new music began before Watkins‘s death on October 11, the project is a significant move for Gaze, who has recently been reflecting on the legacy and “painful” end of Lostprophets. In July, he posted a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter) about the band’s abrupt and horrific implosion.
“It’s been 13 years since my band ended in the most unimaginable circumstances and it’s still painful to think about,” Gaze wrote at the time. “Things could’ve been so different. I don’t talk about it much but I put everything into that band and it should’ve lasted a lifetime. I never really wronged anyone my whole life so it seemed like the ultimate punishment.”
Lostprophets disbanded in 2013 after Watkins was arrested and convicted for a series of horrific child s*x offenses. Gaze and the other members of the band have always maintained they had no knowledge of his crimes, which Watkins hid behind a public persona and spiraling drug addiction.
“There was absolutely nothing that led us to suspect what he’d done,” Gaze stated in a 2014 interview. “I think he created such a smokescreen… he was always surrounded by all these women, so it just seemed impossible.”
Gaze has not commented publicly on Watkins‘s recent death.
