Swedish progressive metallers Evergrey have unveiled their fiercely emotional new single, “The World Is On Fire,” complete with an official music video. The massive, riff-driven track is the latest taste of the band’s highly anticipated upcoming studio album, Architects Of A New Weave, which is scheduled to arrive on June 5, 2026, via Napalm Records.

Alongside the premiere of the new music, the group officially confirmed a major lineup addition. Guitarist Stephen Platt, widely known for his work with Scar Symmetry, has formally joined the band as a full-time member. The transition is a natural evolution for the heavy metal outfit, as the guitarist already spent time on the road as Evergrey‘s live fill-in during their 2025 touring cycle.

Addressing the lineup change, Evergrey issued a warm statement welcoming their newest member to the fold:

“We played a lot of shows with Stephen Platt already, he’s an incredibly lovely human being on top of being a brilliant guitar player, we couldn’t be happier to have him join us for real!”

Stepping into the permanent role, the guitarist shared his excitement about joining the legendary metal act:

“I’m so happy to become the new guitarist of Evergrey. I’ve been a fan of the band for a long time now and am extremely honored to have been asked by this group of incredible musicians and people. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds!”

Musically, “The World Is On Fire” channels global anxiety and chaos into a deeply personal, melodic lament. The track navigates the quiet, devastating realization of holding a loved one in the dead of night while recognizing that the promise of a safe tomorrow has become a lie. Despite the heavy subject matter, the song is built on soaring, cinematic melodies that pull the listener upward rather than drowning them in despair.

Frontman Tom S. Englund offered a profound explanation of the track’s urgent, rebellious lyrical themes:

“‘The World Is On Fire’ was one of those rare songs that reached inside me and articulated feelings I hadn’t even fully recognized yet. Once again, our timing, just as with the song ‘Save Us’ is both haunting and profound. To me, this isn’t just a lament—it’s an uprising. It’s a defiant stand against the forces that thrive on chaos, fear, and silence. They want us scared, quiet, and compliant. But all we want is to raise free-spirited, free-thinking, and independent children who can help build a better world—for us, for them, and for everyone. The devastating lack of compassion and humanity is at the root of everything we see around us. This song isn’t passive acceptance or mere description of our broken reality. It’s us boldly painting a picture of the world we refuse to accept.”

Promising to be a fast, heavy, and transformative release, Architects Of A New Weave will officially hit shelves just in time for a massive career milestone. Days after the record drops, Evergrey will hit the stage as special guests for the undisputed kings of heavy metal, Iron Maiden, opening two massive shows on the legendary act’s “Run For Your Lives World Tour.”
