Eric Hoffman Threatens Glen Benton And Steve Asheim, Accuses Deicide Of Fraud And Royalty Theft

The long-running dispute between former Deicide guitarist Eric Hoffman and the band’s remaining founding members has flared up again, this time through an angry statement shared in a now deleted Facebook post.

In the lengthy post, Eric Hoffman unleashes a profanity-filled attack on Glen Benton and Steve Asheim, accusing them of fraud, withholding royalties, and keeping merchandise income for decades. He insists that he and his brother never voluntarily left Deicide, claims authorship of key albums, and threatens legal action over trademarks. The statement also includes personal insults and direct threats of physical confrontation, significantly escalating the long-running dispute between the former bandmates.

Hoffman, who formed Deicide in 1987 with his brother Brian Hoffman, vocalist and bassist Glen Benton, and drummer Steve Asheim, also alleges that Benton and Asheim misrepresented the circumstances surrounding the Hoffmans’ exit in 2004. He claims that royalty statements from Earache Records, along with merchandise revenue from Earache and Roadrunner Records, were sent directly to Benton for years and were not fairly distributed among the members. Hoffman also maintains that he and his brother “never left” the band and says he wrote key albums such as In Torment in Hell and Insineratehymn.

The Hoffman brothers left Deicide in 2004 and later revived their earlier project, Amon, while Benton and Asheim continued performing under the Deicide name.

At the time of writing, Benton and Asheim have not publicly responded to the latest claims.

Metal Stop has captured statement before it was deleted and you can see it down below.
