Dump Truck Slams Into Whisky A Go Go, Boy Hits Car Concert Canceled

An unexpected and bizarre accident brought chaos to the Sunset Strip last night, May 9th, when a dump truck crashed into the iconic Whisky A Go Go in West Hollywood, forcing the cancellation of an anticipated performance by alternative rock band Boy Hits Car.

According to eyewitnesses and local reports, the incident began when the dump truck collided with a mail truck before veering off its course and slamming into a nearby power pole. The collision caused the pole to topple, resulting in significant structural damage to the rear wall of the famed venue. In addition, the impact took out a main power line, plunging parts of the neighborhood into darkness.

The crash triggered a localized blackout, affecting an estimated 1,420 customers in the area. Emergency utility crews responded quickly, working through the night to restore electricity to most affected residents. Thankfully, despite the severity of the crash, no serious injuries were reported, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Times.

The timing of the incident couldn’t have been worse for Boy Hits Car, who were scheduled to take the stage at Whisky A Go Go just hours after the crash. The band took to social media soon after news broke, confirming that the show was officially canceled due to the venue being temporarily out of commission. In a video update, the band expressed both their disappointment and their intention to return, assuring fans that a rescheduled date would be announced soon.

A video report from KTLA showed the aftermath of the crash, including the damaged wall and emergency personnel on site.

As of now, there is no official estimate on how long it will take to repair the venue. Known for hosting legendary acts since the 1960s, the Whisky A Go Go has weathered many storms — but a dump truck crash is certainly a first in its storied history.
