Dream Theater has announced the release of a new live album and concert film, Quarantième: Live à Paris, to immortalize what drummer Mike Portnoy calls an “unforgettable” tour celebrating both the band’s 40th anniversary and the “reunion of the band’s classic lineup.” The first taste of the release is a new live video for the Metropolis Pt. 2 suite, “Overture 1928/Strange Déjà Vu” which is available down below.

The new release, scheduled to drop on November 28, captures the band’s performance at the Adidas Arena in Paris, France, during their recent 40th-anniversary tour. In statements accompanying the announcement, both John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy explained that they knew from the outset that this specific tour was a historic moment that needed to be documented.

John Petrucci said:

“From the moment we announced our 40th anniversary tour, we knew it would be a very special event for both the band and our fans and must be captured. With this release, our performance in Paris is presented so beautifully in both stunning audio and video and really encapsulates this momentous occasion for all to enjoy.”

Mike Portnoy added:

“We always knew this tour would be unforgettable because not only were we celebrating four decades since forming the band, but also the reunion of the band’s classic lineup. The excitement and emotions between us and our fans at each and every show were palpable and totally off the charts! The night captured here in Paris was an epic evening that we can now share with the whole world to celebrate this incredible tour.”

The career-spanning setlist captured on the album includes epics like “Metropolis Pt. 1” and “Octavarium,” alongside tracks from their new album, Parasomnia. To launch the announcement, the band has released a live video of their performance of “Overture 1928 / Strange Déjà Vu.”

The release will be available in a variety of deluxe formats, including a limited artbook with a 68-page book, a 4LP vinyl boxset, and a Blu-ray featuring the full show in Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Surround Sound. The artwork was created by the band’s longtime collaborator, Hugh Syme.
