Dream Theater To Play New Album ‘Parasomnia’ In Full On New U.S. Tour

Progressive music titans Dream Theater have announced another extensive run of U.S. tour dates for the fall of 2025, called “An Evening With Dream Theater – Parasomnia 2025.” This tour follows their successful 40th-anniversary North American trek that concluded in March and will heavily feature their sixteenth studio album, Parasomnia, which marks the celebrated return of founding drummer Mike Portnoy.

The upcoming 30-city U.S. tour is scheduled to kick off on September 5 in Reading, Pennsylvania, and will run through October 25, wrapping up in Long Island, New York. Each night, Dream Theater will perform their latest album, Parasomnia, in its entirety, alongside a selection of classics and fan favorites from their extensive catalog.

Parasomnia, released on February 7, 2025, via InsideOut Music, is the first Dream Theater studio album to feature Mike Portnoy on drums since 2009’s Black Clouds & Silver Linings. The album was produced by guitarist John Petrucci, engineered by James “Jimmy T” Meslin, mixed by renowned producer Andy Sneap, and features cover art by longtime collaborator Hugh Syme.

Mike Portnoy co-founded Dream Theater in 1985 with Petrucci and bassist John Myung and played on the band’s first ten studio albums before his departure in 2010. He was succeeded by Mike Mangini, who handled drumming duties for over a decade and through several albums, joining after a widely publicized audition process documented in “The Spirit Carries On.” Portnoy‘s return to the band was announced in late 2023, exciting fans worldwide.

Before embarking on the “Parasomnia” U.S. tour, Dream Theater will also complete an extensive run of European festival appearances and headline shows throughout June and July 2025.
