Dream Theater Kicks Off Tour With Full ‘Parasomnia’ Performance And Epic ‘A Change Of Seasons’ Revival

Dream Theater kicked off their tour playing their new album Parasomnia and “A Change of Seasons” in full. See it here.

Dream Theater Parasomnia Live 2025

Progressive metal titans Dream Theater launched their first major tour since the celebrated return of drummer Mike Portnoy with a monumental and fan-pleasing statement of intent on Friday night. The opening show of their “An Evening With Dream Theater” tour in Reading, Pennsylvania, saw the band perform their entire new album, Parasomnia, from start to finish, and, for the first time since 2017, the entirety of their beloved 23-minute epic, “A Change of Seasons.” You can watch the performance down below.

The three-hour-plus concert on September 5 at the Santander Performing Arts Center was a clear signal of the reunited lineup’s confidence and creative energy. The first act of the evening was dedicated entirely to their sixteenth studio album, Parasomnia, giving fans their first opportunity to hear the new material live, including five songs that had never been performed before.

After an intermission, the band returned for a second act filled with classics, including “As I Am,” “The Enemy Inside,” and a jam-filled version of “Peruvian Skies” that featured excerpts from Pink Floyd‘s “Wish You Were Here” and Metallica‘s “Wherever I May Roam.”

However, it was the encore that left longtime fans ecstatic. The band performed the sprawling, seven-movement epic “A Change of Seasons” in its entirety. The revival of the fan-favorite masterpiece, a song deeply associated with Portnoy’s original tenure, was a powerful and poignant moment, signaling a full-circle return for the band’s most celebrated lineup.

The Reading show was the first date of a 30-city U.S. tour that will run through October.
