Disturbed Issues Statement Regarding Brussels Cancellation: ‘Music Is Where All Our Differences Fade’

The multi-platinum rock band Disturbed has released an official statement addressing the recent cancellation of their upcoming concert in Brussels, Belgium, which was shut down by local authorities over security concerns. In their message, the band expressed their sadness over the decision and championed music as a unifying force.

The statement, posted to the band’s social media on Monday, October 13, is their first public comment on the matter since the show was canceled late last week.

The statement reads:

“BELGIUM UPDATE”

“Music is where all our differences fade into the background. Music has the power to heal, to inspire and to bring people together, it’s not about what divides us. We have always made it a point that at our shows ALL are welcome no matter what you believe. Everyone who comes to a Disturbed concert is accepted and loved. We are saddened that our fans in Belgium are not going to be able to share in this celebration of music.”

“Your tickets will be refunded automatically within 30 days to the payment card used at the time of purchase. You don’t need to take any further action.”

“We would like to thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your support.”

The statement comes after the band’s planned October 15 show at the Forest National venue was officially banned by a police order from the mayor of the Brussels municipality of Forest, Charles Spapens. The decision was based on a police risk analysis that cited security concerns.

The mayor’s full statement on the cancellation reads:

“My priority and responsibility is the safety of residents, demonstrators, spectators and the staff of Forest National. Given the unfavourable opinion of the police and the unique geographical location of the venue, it was my duty to take this decision.”

According to local reports, the security concerns stemmed from frontman David Draiman‘s outspoken and high-profile support for Israel and the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The controversy was first ignited in 2024 when Draiman posted a photo to social media showing him signing an IDF artillery shell.

The cancellation comes as Disturbed is in the middle of a massive European tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album, The Sickness, with support from Megadeth.
