Disturbed paid tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne with a powerful live cover of Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” during their performance at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on August 5. The tribute came two weeks after the world lost the legendary frontman and co-founder of Black Sabbath.

The band’s singer, David Draiman, shared a heartfelt message about Ozzy’s legacy with the crowd and on social media. “Ozzy Osbourne isn’t just the Godfather of Metal. He was the father to many of us, he was someone that we could look up to, he was an idol, he was someone that inspired us. Last night marked two weeks since he left us. Thanks for sharing this moment with us, Sturgis.” A video of the performance has since been shared online, capturing the moment the band honored the influential singer, and you can watch it down below.

In recent days, more information has emerged regarding Ozzy’s passing on July 22. According to a death certificate filed in London by his daughter, Aimée Rose Osbourne, his death was caused by a heart attack. The document also listed coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease as contributing factors. The heart attack occurred outside a hospital setting at his estate, Welders House, in Buckinghamshire, England. Reports from The Daily Mail indicate that an air ambulance was dispatched to the estate on the morning of his death, but it departed two hours later without the patient.

Ozzy’s sister, Jean Powell, expressed her shock at the sudden loss in an interview with The Mirror, stating: “He was frail but it still came as a shock. He still had plans and things he wanted to do… It’s just so sad. I’m just thankful he died in England.”

The Osbourne family had released a statement on the day of his passing, expressing their profound sadness. “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.” The tribute from Disturbed is one of many from the metal community and demonstrates the deep and lasting impact Ozzy had on countless musicians and fans across the globe.
