Deathcore band Disembodied Tyrant announced a temporary lineup change for their upcoming US tour following a serious “freak accident” involving vocalist and guitarist Blake Mullens. The incident, which occurred just days before the tour kickoff, left Mullens hospitalized with multiple injuries requiring surgery and a “lengthy” rehabilitation period.
Despite the setback, the band, determined not to “lose momentum,” will proceed with the tour as scheduled. Disembodied Tyrant released a statement late Sunday, November 9th, providing limited details on the incident while reassuring fans of Mullens‘ condition.
“On Monday the 3rd, Blake was involved in a freak accident that resulted in significant injuries to multiple limbs, requiring emergency hospitalization and surgery. He is okay, but there will be no more details given in relation to the incident out of respect for his family.”
“Due to this event and the lengthy recovery process involved, he is unfit to perform on DT’s upcoming US tour with Whitechapel. He is expected to recover in time for the band’s next tour in March.”
“He does not want to the band to lose momentum or opportunities, so the tour will proceed as planned with @trevorteichert and @rynovail stepping in on vocals. The rest of the band will see you there with Whitechapel, Bodysnatcher, and AngelMaker.”
Filling in for Mullens on vocals will be Trevor Teichert of Winter’s Gate and Ryan Vail of LarcɆnia RoɆ and Synestia. The remaining band members will join the duo on the road for the tour opening for Whitechapel, Bodysnatcher, and AngelMaker.
The US run, on which Whitechapel is performing their latest album Hymns In Dissonance in full each night, is set to begin on November 12.
