Dimmu Borgir wrapped up recording their first new studio album since 2018 back in September, and the long-anticipated successor to Eonian now seems just around the corner. The sessions were handled with producer Fredrik Nordström returning to work alongside the band.
Yesterday, on March 23, Dimmu Borgir and Nuclear Blast Records posted a teaser pointing toward a reveal on Thursday, March 26, with a premiere set for 18:00 CET (10:00 AM PST).
On September 13, 2025, Nordström wrote: “Dimmu Borgir album recording, mix and mastering done. What a fantastic journey. [Had] so much fun and [it was] also challenging. If you are into the band you will not be disappointed.”
The completion of the album is the culmination of a multi-year effort that, according to Silenoz, was purposefully unhurried. During a past interview, the guitarist explained the band’s philosophy behind the lengthy gaps between their albums, stating that they refuse to compromise their art for the sake of a deadline.
“Great songs take time,” he said at the time. “You just have to take the time it takes. As long as we can craft it in our tempo, it’s gonna be good. We could probably record an album every second year or whatever, but what’s the point? If you don’t have the right intent and conviction behind it, then it’s bound to flop and fail.”
Silenoz credited the band’s longtime label, Nuclear Blast, for understanding and respecting their creative process. “They never stressed us once… because they know that if we get to spend the time we need on the music, they will get a product that they can support and sell, and it will sel. We never compromise… We’ve always done it our way.”
Earlier in November, Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth have officially announced a monumental joint trek dubbed the “In League With Satan” tour.
Scheduled to storm across the continent throughout October 2026, the tour represents a historic union of two of the genre’s most commercially successful and theatrically ambitious acts. To bolster the lineup’s blackened credentials, Swedish black metal icons Dark Funeral have been confirmed as the special guests for the duration of the run.
Dimmu Borgir shared the following regarding their return to the road:
“It’s been a few years since we’ve done a proper European tour, and what a great way to get back out there—teaming up with our brothers in Behemoth for this massive European run. We’ll be bringing a brand-new show with us, and we can’t wait to share our next chapter with both new and familiar faces.”
Behemoth frontman Nergal matched that energy, describing the billing as a historic assembly for the genre:
“Legions of Europe! We decided to outdo ourselves and bring the biggest black metal package ever assembled. Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir and Dark Funeral…historic…biblical! Let’s get evil as f**k!”
