Def Leppard bassist Rick Savage revealed in a recent conversation with People magazine that the band has already generated enough material to potentially shape a full follow-up to their 2022 album Diamond Star Halos.
“We’ve really got enough material, and we’ll have enough material to take us through to the end of the decade pretty much,” Rick said. “We’re a few songs short of having two albums.”
Savage went on to note that Def Leppard continue to actively work on new material, with the band currently aiming to release their thirteenth studio album either toward the end of this year or in early 2027.
“It’s an ongoing process, really,” Rick said. “If we needed to put the album out next week, we absolutely could, but we’re still writing, we’re still recording, we’re still finishing off. It’s like we always say, the last 20% takes 80% of the time to get it right. So, we’re kind of in that process.”
Def Leppard launched their third Las Vegas residency, titled “Def Leppard Live At Caesars Palace: The Las Vegas Residency,” on Tuesday, February 3. The 12-date engagement comes on the heels of the band’s sold-out Vegas runs in 2013 and 2019 and marks their first-ever performances at The Colosseum, which holds roughly 4,300 attendees. The shows further cement the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees’ long-standing presence on the Strip.
During last night’s performance, Def Leppard’s setlist featured the recently released single “Rejoice,” along with “White Lightning” from the band’s 1992 album Adrenalize — a song that hadn’t been performed live since the 1990s.
Speaking with People magazine, Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott commented on the band’s latest Las Vegas residency:
“We’ve scrapped everything we’ve ever used over the last five or six tours, which was adapted all the way, but we’ve just actually got rid of it and came up with a whole new stage show, including setlist.”
