Hard rock icons Deep Purple have officially released their latest single, “Diablo“, alongside its accompanying music video. The track serves as the newest preview of Splat!, the band’s upcoming studio album scheduled for release on July 3, 2026, via earMUSIC.
The new track follows the album’s lead single, “Arrogant Boy“, and opens the door to one of the band’s surreal new story worlds: a dangerous place where a heroine crosses a river, jumps into a fighting pit, celebrates with a bucket of wine, falls into a glitter pool, and somehow makes it back home with a tale to tell. Musically, “Diablo” is a classic Deep Purple rocker that thrives on its riff, groove, and the core band chemistry captured in the studio.
For this track, the band collaborated with global superstar and Grammy-winning guitarist Keith Urban, who contributes second guitar work to the single. The song’s official performance music video premiered on earMUSIC’s YouTube channel today, Sunday, June 7, at 20:00 CEST, giving fans an opportunity to participate in a live chat with Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover during the broadcast.
Discussing the underlying theme of the track, Deep Purple frontman Ian Gillan shared his thoughts on the inspiration behind the lyrics:
“It is all about taking chances. Just for once in your life, do something exciting, step out of the mould, take that curious bend in the road instead of sticking to the highway and do something that will, for the rest of your life, either guide or warn you.”
For new album, the band once again collaborated with legendary producer Bob Ezrin, known for his iconic work with Kiss, Pink Floyd, Lou Reed, and Alice Cooper. The recording process for Splat! adhered to the band’s traditional roots, with the musicians performing together live in the studio to capture a raw, high-energy atmosphere.
To support the new release, Deep Purple are preparing for an extensive global touring cycle that kicks off with a series of European summer dates starting in Finland. The itinerary will take the rock veterans through Norway, France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, and Italy before the Splat! world tour shifts to North America. In total, the upcoming trek consists of 86 shows spanning 28 countries.
Pre-orders for Splat! are currently active across multiple formats, including standard CD, traditional vinyl, and various limited editions, alongside exclusive merchandise available on the band’s official web store. Since their formation in 1968, Deep Purple have accumulated over 120 million album sales worldwide, cementing their definitive position in rock history while continuing to expand their musical legacy.
