Mark Osegueda sang Dio‘s “Holy Diver” with Primus in Eindhoven on Saturday, a track the band recorded with Puddles Pity Party.
Mark Osegueda walked out with Primus at Dynamo Metalfest in Eindhoven on Saturday to sing “Holy Diver”. Fan-shot video of the performance is online and can be seen down below.
The Death Angel vocalist, who also fronts Kerry King‘s band, took a part Primus recorded with someone else entirely. Their studio version of the Dio song is sung by Puddles Pity Party, the sad-clown persona of Michael Geier.
That recording appears on A Handful Of Nuggs, a four-track EP the band put out digitally on May 15 and pressed to 12-inch vinyl on July 22 through ATO Records. Alongside the cover it carries the new song “The Ol’ Grizz“, “Little Lord Fent**yl” with Maynard James Keenan of Tool and Puscifer, and a live recording of “Duchess (And The Proverbial Mind Spread)” from the Mann Music Center in Philadelphia.
It was also the first Primus material to feature John Hoffman, who took over on drums from Tim “Herb” Alexander in 2025. The band recruited him through an open global audition they called the Interstellar Drum Derby, which drew more than 6,100 applicants.
The Eindhoven appearance falls on Primus‘s first run through the United Kingdom and Europe since 2017. The tour includes a headline slot at ArcTanGent in Bristol along with dates in Manchester, Glasgow and London and a string of European festivals.
“Holy Diver” is the title track of Dio‘s 1983 debut, written by Ronnie James Dio, who died in May 2010. The album went platinum and remains the record most associated with him outside his work with Rainbow and Black Sabbath.
Rhino reissued it in July 2022 as a four-CD Holy Diver: Super Deluxe Edition, carrying both a fresh mix by Joe Barresi made from the original analogue tapes and a new remaster of the 1983 mix, along with previously unreleased live recordings, outtakes and rarities from the period.
