San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal veterans Death Angel have announced a special 10th-anniversary vinyl reissue of their eighth studio album, The Evil Divide. The commemorative release is scheduled to arrive on July 24 through Nuclear Blast Records.
Originally hitting shelves on May 27, 2016, The Evil Divide was recorded under the direction of producer Jason Suecof at AudioHammer Studios. The album was widely praised upon its release for its technical intensity, explosive songwriting, and aggressive performances.
The upcoming anniversary edition marks the vinyl and global streaming debut of the bonus track “Wasteland“, which is Death Angel’s interpretation of the 1986 song originally recorded by gothic rock band The Mission. The track was previously only accessible on select limited-edition CD digipak versions distributed outside the United States.
The reissue announcement arrives as Death Angel continues an extensive tour celebrating the 35th anniversary of their landmark 1990 album, Act III. The special tour, which features the band performing the album in its entirety alongside other catalog classics, includes dates extending through 2026 and 2027. The run has already seen significant fan turnout, including two advanced sold-out nights at the legendary Fillmore in their home region of the Bay Area.
While celebrating their legacy, the group remains focused on creating new material, having recently released two standalone singles in 2025: the high-velocity track “Wrath (Bring Fire)” and the socially conscious anthem “Cult Of The Used“.
Originally formed in 1982 in Daly City, California, Death Angel emerged as teenage prodigies within the foundational Bay Area thrash metal movement. The initial lineup consisted of cousins Rob Cavestany (guitar), Dennis Pepa (bass), and Andy Galeon (drums), alongside vocalist Mark Osegueda and guitarist Gus Pepa. They made their international debut with 1987’s The Ultra-Violence, recorded when Andy Galeon was just 14 years old, followed by 1988’s Frolic Through The Park, which featured the prominent MTV single “Bored“. Their 1990 major-label debut on Geffen, Act III, expanded their sound with more melodic elements and yielded popular music videos for “Seemingly Endless Time” and “A Room With A View“.
After reforming in 2001, the band entered a highly successful second chapter. Rather than relying on nostalgia, they released a series of modern albums that combined classic thrash aggression with contemporary production. This run included The Art Of Dying (2004), Killing Season (2008), Relentless Retribution (2010), The Dream Calls For Blood (2013), The Evil Divide (2016), and the Grammy-nominated Humanicide (2019).
Death Angel‘s current lineup has remained completely stable for nearly two decades, featuring Mark Osegueda, Rob Cavestany, guitarist Ted Aguilar, bassist Damien Sisson, and drummer Will Carroll. The veteran lineup continues to tour globally across North America, Europe, South America, Asia, and Australia.
