A new lawsuit has emerged in the wake of a deadly plane crash at Scottsdale Airport that involved a jet connected to Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil. The complaint, filed in Maricopa County court earlier this month by a survivor of the accident, names the City of Scottsdale among the defendants.
The February 10, 2025 incident occurred just before 3 p.m., when a Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The plane collided with another aircraft parked on the airfield, resulting in the tragic death of pilot Joie Vitosky, 78, and injuries to four others.
Vince Neil was not on board the plane at the time of the crash. However, his girlfriend, Rain Andreani, and a friend who were traveling with her were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Andreani reportedly suffered five broken ribs. The co-pilot was also injured, while the dogs on board survived.
At the time, Mötley Crüe issued a statement about the crash: “Earlier today a private plane owned by Vince Neil was involved in a crash near Scottsdale, AZ. The pilot was tragically killed; the co-pilot and other passengers were taken to local hospitals. Vince was not on the plane. Vince‘s girlfriend and her friend suffered injuries, albeit not life threatening. While details are still emerging, our hearts go out to the families of both the pilot who lost his life and the passengers who suffered injuries.”
The newly filed lawsuit claims that the aircraft Neil’s plane struck was improperly and unsafely parked, placing some of the blame on both the jet’s owner and Scottsdale Airport. ABC15 Arizona reached out to city officials, who declined to comment due to the ongoing litigation.
