Disturbed frontman David Draiman has shared an encouraging update regarding the band’s upcoming studio material, promising fans that they will be “pleasantly surprised” by what is to come. The new songs will mark the group’s first collection of new music since their 2022 studio album, Divisive.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, May 30, Draiman revealed that he has spent considerable time reviewing the band’s recent songwriting sessions after stepping away from them temporarily.
“I’ll tell you one thing… I’ve had a lot of time to go over these last songs we’ve written. Took time away, came back to them, and fell in love with them all over again. Diverse, fresh, and powerful,” Draiman wrote.
He continued, adding to the anticipation for the next record: “It’ll be some time…but I can’t wait for these songs to see the light of day. I think everyone will be pleasantly…surprised.”
The update follows comments made by Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan in April 2025. Speaking with Cameron Buchholtz of “Rock 100.5 The KATT FM“, Donegan shared that the band had tracked a large volume of material back in the fall of 2024, noting they had put together “a bunch of material, enough for an album.”
Rather than rushing the full album out, the band chose to release the standalone single “I Will Not Break” in early 2025. The track was rolled out to give listeners fresh content while the band was out on the road celebrating the 25th anniversary of their seminal 2000 debut album, The Sickness.
The release of “I Will Not Break” also marked a massive logistical shift for the band, serving as their very first release via their independent imprint, Mother Culture Records, after spending their entire prior career signed to Warner Brothers.
Late last year, frontman David Draiman publicly stated that the group would be stepping away from the spotlight indefinitely. His comments arrived right after the band finished up their massive 25th-anniversary tour celebrating their debut album, The Sickness, on October 28.
Reflecting on that milestone trek, the singer posted a heartfelt message explaining the band’s need to rest.
“Headed home!!! Thanks so much to EVERYONE that made #TheSickness25 a tour to truly remember! Crew, Management, Agent, Promoters, and ESPECIALLY my brothers in Disturbed. Not sure when we will be headed back out. We all need a nice long break. Hope to see you when we do.”
In a separate update, he touched on the personal sacrifices of life on the road and his desire to finally unwind.
“Feeling high school high after not burning (except Amsterdam… that doesn’t count) for the last three months in preparation for #TheSickness25. Reflecting on the beautiful madness of it all. Looking forward to being with family and friends. Taking a nice long break.”
Earlier in March, even though the band announced an extended break from touring, Disturbed added another live date to their summer schedule. The band has officially confirmed a new performance set for July 7 at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida.
This newly announced Florida show joins the band’s only other scheduled 2026 appearance, where they will headline the opening night of the Inkcarceration Festival in Mansfield, Ohio, on July 17.
