David Draiman Announces Disturbed Will Take ‘Nice Long Break’ Following Anniversary Tour

Disturbed frontman David Draiman has confirmed that the band is heading into an extended hiatus, stating they “all need a nice long break.” The announcement came just as the band wrapped up its “The Sickness” anniversary tour on October 28.

Draiman took to social media to announce the break in two separate posts, thanking the band’s team and fans for the successful tour, which celebrated their 2000 debut album, The Sickness.

In his first post, Draiman wrote: “Headed home!!! Thanks so much to EVERYONE that made #TheSickness25 a tour to truly remember! Crew, Management, Agent, Promoters, and ESPECIALLY my brothers in Disturbed. Not sure when we will be headed back out. We all need a nice long break. Hope to see you when we do.”

A second, more reflective post followed shortly after: “Feeling high school high after not burning (except Amsterdam… that doesn’t count) for the last three months in preparation for #TheSickness25. Reflecting on the beautiful madness of it all. Looking forward to being with family and friends. Taking a nice long break.”

The planned break follows a period of intense and sustained controversy surrounding Draiman. The backlash began after the singer posted a photo of himself signing an artillery shell reportedly intended for use by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in Gaza.

The incident sparked widespread criticism, which was reignited during a public online feud between Draiman and the pro-Palestinian Irish rap collective Kneecap. The fallout continued as Draiman was reportedly booed during a surprise guest appearance at Black Sabbath’s recent farewell concert in Birmingham.

In addition to the public backlash, which also included actor John Cusack calling the singer “psychotic,” Disturbed‘s show at the Vorst Nationaal on October 15 was also cancelled.

The band has not specified how long the break will last or if it will impact the creation of new music.
