Dani Filth provided a new update on the Cradle of Filth’s upcoming studio album.

In a recent conversation with Australia’s Heavy, Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth provided a new update on the extreme metal band’s upcoming studio album. Discussing the success of their fourteenth full-length record, The Screaming Of The Valkyries—which was released in March 2025 through Napalm Records—the vocalist confirmed that fresh material is well underway.

Addressing the overwhelming fan reception of their latest release, Dani Filth stated:

“Yeah. Above and beyond. The Screaming Of The Valkyries, it’s really charted high. The fans love it. It’s the next step up in our evolutionary step. The next record, which, obviously, we’re writing at the moment — [we’re] almost finished writing; [we’re] gonna be in the studio in about three weeks — again takes that to the next level.”

The frontman elaborated on the band’s recent momentum and their relentless touring schedule over the past few years, adding:

“We’ve had a fantastic few years. Post lockdown, obviously there’s been a lot of catching up to do. This is why we’ve been touring a lot, why we’ve been very creative. Yeah, I think we’re definitely walking into the right direction. The fans seem to like it, and that sort of matters.”

When questioned about whether the old-school elements from The Screaming Of The Valkyries will serve as a blueprint for the new project, Dani Filth emphasized that the creative process is still in its crucial planning stages:

“Well, yeah, we’ve moved the goalposts in all kinds of directions. It’s very hard to stipulate exactly what we’re doing. And, really, to be honest, it’s too early to be talking about our new album. We haven’t even decided — we’ve got a huge amount of tracks and we haven’t even decided which ones are going on the record as yet. That’s up to me and the producer. Next week he’s gonna come and visit my house and we’re gonna siphon through everything and decide what’s a keeper and what isn’t, what might need development. So, yeah, again, very early to talk about it.”

Their most recent effort, The Screaming Of The Valkyries, was handled by producer Scott Atkins, who recorded, mixed, and mastered the album at Grindstone Studios in Suffolk, England.

Meanwhile, Cradle Of Filth continues to navigate backend legal challenges. Last year, a lawsuit was filed against Dani Filth and the band’s management by six former members.

According to the court filings, key allegations in the suit include:

  • Unauthorized Use of Likeness: Several plaintiffs claim they never signed agreements permitting the band or its management to use their names and images for commercial purposes, yet merchandise and promotional materials featuring them continue to be sold.
  • Intellectual Property Theft: Schoolcraft alleges that the band has misused her original copyrighted “sigils” artwork on merchandise without authorization.
  • Unpaid Wages and Royalties: The suit claims the band withheld financial accounting regarding merchandise, recording royalties, and publishing agreements. Baxter specifically alleges she was never paid for her appearances in the music videos for “Malignant Perfection” and “To Live Deliciously,” only to later discover merchandise featuring her image from those shoots being sold.
  • Defamation: The complaint addresses public statements made by Dani Filth following the acrimonious exit of Federoff and Smerda in August. It alleges Filth made disparaging and false claims regarding Federoff‘s alcohol consumption and a miscarriage, causing significant reputational harm.
  • Property Disputes: Federoff claims her custom microphone was destroyed and her in-ear monitors were never returned.

The legal action followed a public meltdown in late August, where Federoff and Smerda quit the band mid-tour, citing a “threatening” work environment and refusal to sign what they described as an unfair contract. At the time, Filth fired back on social media, accusing the couple of unprofessional behavior and alcohol abuse—claims the lawsuit now vigorously contests.

While Dani Filth has yet to offer a direct public statement regarding the active lawsuit, he has previously noted his refusal to “let unfounded slander define this band or diminish the work we’ve put into it.”

In the meantime, Cradle of Filth are heading back to the United States for a spring 2026 tour with Suffocation, alongside Ghost Bath and Cultus Black.
