Multi-platinum post-grunge band Creed may soon deliver new music to their devoted fanbase, according to frontman Scott Stapp. In a recent interview with Meltdown of Detroit’s WRIF radio station, Stapp revealed that discussions about writing and recording fresh material are actively underway within the reunited group.
Stapp emphasized a cautious yet optimistic approach to this next chapter, citing the band’s personal and professional evolution.
“We’re talking about it. We’re taking things slow. We’re rebuilding, we’re relearning about each other. We’re reconnecting,” he explained.
He likened the reunion to “putting on an old glove,” while acknowledging the profound changes each member has undergone. “We’ve all changed. We’re all older, we have kids, we have different responsibilities and priorities in life. And we’re all extremely focused.” This renewed maturity, Stapp believes, could elevate their future output. “I think that when that day comes when we decide to make a Creed record, I think it’ll be probably, if not on par, better than anything we’ve ever done,” he stated with confidence.
“Just based upon the life experience that we have, everything we’ve done the last two years of playing together, I think that sets the stage that when it’s the right time, it’s gonna be incredible.”
The prospect of new music follows Creed‘s highly successful return to the live stage, which began in summer 2024 with the “Summer Of ’99” tour. This comeback run featured a strong lineup including 3 Doors Down, Finger Eleven, Switchfoot, Fuel, Big Wreck, and Daughtry, and extended into the fall with the “Are You Ready?” arena tour across North America. The band officially reunited in 2023, initially kicking off their return with a sold-out “Summer Of ‘99” cruise. Their Greatest Hits album, originally released in 2004, also experienced a resurgence in May 2024 with its wide vinyl debut, re-entering the Billboard 200 and achieving high placements on various rock and alternative charts.
Stapp described the experience of performing live again as profoundly impactful. “Man, it’s hard to put into words,” he shared. “Of course, the cliché word would be it’s surreal. But, man, it was exciting. There was just so much energy and connection between the band guys. We were having a good time, and I hope the audience saw it.”
He highlighted a newfound appreciation for their time onstage, acknowledging the band’s journey through highs and lows. “We’re soaking it all in, we’re all present, we’re all in the moment,” Stapp emphasized.
“And we all know what it’s like to have that and then not have that, so there’s a new level of appreciation for those moments. To hear the fans sing every song and the energy that’s in the room, man, it’s a dream come true, and we don’t take a moment of it for granted.”
