British extreme metal band Cradle of Filth has wasted no time in introducing a new live member following the abrupt departure of keyboardist and backing vocalist Zoë Marie Federoff. On August 24, just hours after Federoff announced her exit, the band took the stage in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with Kelsey Peters stepping in to fill the role.
Federoff shared a public statement announcing her departure mid-tour, citing “personal reasons.” She later clarified on social media that she and her husband, guitarist Marek “Ashok” Šmerda, had been planning to leave the band later this year but that her exit was moved up due to a “certain circumstance.” Ashok remains with the band.
Ahead of the Buenos Aires show, frontman Dani Filth confirmed the lineup change to fans, announcing that Peters would take over for the remainder of the band’s “Screaming of the Americas” tour.
Fan-filmed footage from the concert has already appeared online, showing Peters performing on keyboards and providing backing vocals on the song “Malignant Perfection.” Despite the sudden shift in the band’s lineup, Cradle of Filth delivered a full set for the audience in Argentina.
In her statement regarding her departure, Federoff wrote, “It is with deep regret I share that for personal reasons I am unable to continue this tour and continue in general with Cradle of Filth. Please respect my privacy and my family’s privacy. I will answer no further questions. Be kind to my successor. I wish her and my now former bandmates well. At least, like Roy Khan said over a decade ago, God was there after all.”
The show marked a new chapter for the band as they continue their South American tour.
