Veteran southern sludge metallers Corrosion of Conformity are nearing the completion of their eleventh studio album. The North Carolina-based band, which began tracking the new material back in March, recently announced that the recording process is almost finished, with only some final solos and riffs left to be added before they move into the mixing phase. This upcoming record, their first since 2018’s No Cross No Crown, sees the return of drummer Stanton Moore to the studio.
The band’s work has been supported by engineer Warren Riker, who has also worked with artists like Lauryn Hill and Down. The recording sessions for the new record took place in a private studio in Miami owned by Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees.
While fans eagerly await new music, Corrosion of Conformity is set to embark on a significant tour. The band has been booked as the opening act for a powerful lineup featuring two Rock & Roll Hall of Famers: British heavy metal icons Judas Priest and shock rock pioneer Alice Cooper. This extensive tour kicks off in September and runs through late October, with stops across the United States and Canada.
Before joining the large-scale tour, the band will perform a handful of headlining shows in various cities, including Harrisonburg, VA, and El Paso, TX.
