Corrosion of Conformity has announced that they have completed recording their new album, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2018’s No Cross No Crown. The band shared the news on social media, revealing that their new project will be a double album.
On Saturday, August 16, the band posted a photo of guitarist Woody Weatherman and guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan, accompanied by a message to their fans. “Woody and Pepper have just finished tracking one of the most meaningful and powerful records we have ever been a part of,” the statement read. The band expressed gratitude to the collaborators who made the album possible, specifically mentioning drummer Stanton Moore, bassist Bobby Rock, and engineer Warren Riker. “This would not have been possible without the skills of all those that have joined this caravan, that is still in hot pursuit,” the post continued. “There’s many others that this would have not been possible without and whom will not be forgotten. This is what was in our head for three years and today we can say it is no longer ours. Oh yeah .. It’s a double album.”
Some of the guitar recording sessions for the new album took place at a private studio in Miami, Florida, owned by none other than Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees. The band shared a photo of Keenan and Gibb at the studio on July 20, detailing how the unique opportunity came about. The band discovered that Gibb‘s son, Stephen Gibb, had been working with engineer Warren Riker, who had previously worked with Keenan on Down records. A few phone calls led to an invitation to record at Barry Gibb‘s studio.
Keenan and the band were humbled by the experience. “Never in our youth did we think we would be here tracking, and having Barry share his most prized instruments .. aka the Staying Alive Strat !!” they wrote. They described the new record as a “monster” and expressed their immense gratitude to the Gibb family and Riker.
The band’s recent lineup has seen some shifts. Last October, they recruited Bobby Landgraf, a former guitarist for Down, to play bass for their appearance on the Headbangers Boat cruise. Landgraf has since joined the band both in the studio and on the road. The band will be hitting the road soon with Alice Cooper and Judas Priest, giving fans a chance to hear the new material live.
