Southern heavy metal veterans Corrosion Of Conformity have officially announced the addition of drummer Nick Shabatura to their lineup. The talented percussionist secured the highly coveted position following a direct recommendation from Anthrax and Pantera drummer Charlie Benante, a detail the band recently highlighted in a shared video announcement.
Nick Shabatura steps in to fill the vacancy left by Stanton Moore, who initially took over the group’s drumming duties in 2024 following the tragic passing of founding member Reed Mullin.
Stanton Moore publicly endorsed his successor, taking to social media earlier today, March 13, to share his excitement about the transition:
“I approve this message! I went by rehearsals in Riffississippi the other day to meet and hang with Nick. He is an amazing drummer and a super cool guy. He showed up having completely done his homework and already sounds great playing with the band.”
He added: “The plan was always for me to make this record with the guys and then to find somebody to do the touring. Well, we found the guy and he is Nick Shabatura!”
The lineup change arrives as Corrosion Of Conformity prepares to unleash their highly anticipated new double album, Good God / Baad Man, officially slated to drop on April 3.
The band introduced the expansive new project last month with the debut single, “Gimme Some Moore“. The hard-hitting track features guest backing vocals from Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen and Madonna guitarist Monte Pittman. Earlier this week, the group offered another glimpse into the double LP by premiering a second track, “You Or Me“.
Good God / Baad Man was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Warren Riker (known for his work with Fugees, Down, and Cathedral) and features striking cover art by acclaimed New Orleans artist Scott Guion. Recording sessions for the massive project spanned multiple locations, including Blak Shak Studios in Riffissippi, Dockside Studios in Maurice, Louisiana, and the personal Miami home studio of Bee Gees legend Barry Gibb.
