Pro-shot video of Corey Taylor and Geezer Butler performing “War Pigs” at the Sound & Vision Awards is online.
The first professionally shot footage from the Palm Springs Sound & Vision Awards has been released, and it puts Geezer Butler back behind “War Pigs” with Corey Taylor singing it. A second clip carries Lzzy Hale‘s reading of Bad Company‘s “Shooting Star“.
Both are lifted from Sound & Vision Live, the concert film and double album drawn from the inaugural awards night at the Plaza Theatre on 2 March. Harry Reese filmed and edited the footage, which also takes in rehearsals at GoodNoise Studio and the soundcheck at the theatre.
“War Pigs” runs to just under nine minutes, with Taylor on vocals, Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme and Steve Stevens on guitars, Butler on bass and Matt Sorum on drums. It was the longest performance of the night.
“Shooting Star” has Hale singing, Phil X and Stevie Salas on guitars, Mike Mangan on keyboards, Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots on bass and Sorum again behind the kit.
The pairing is deliberate. The night honoured two men, and the two clips take one song from each: “Shooting Star” from Paul Rodgers‘ catalogue with Bad Company, “War Pigs” from Butler‘s with Black Sabbath.
The Sabbath half of the evening carries a weight it would not have had a year earlier. The March performance came eight months after Ozzy Osbourne‘s death in July 2025, and roughly the same distance from Black Sabbath‘s farewell concert in Birmingham. Taylor played that show too, and here sings both “War Pigs” and “Paranoid” with Butler behind him. Hale takes “Symptom Of The Universe” and “Neon Knights“, and Glenn Hughes, who fronted Sabbath on Seventh Star, sings “N.I.B.“
Sound & Vision Live is a 2,000-copy double vinyl produced by Sorum, who also acted as musical director on the night, with everything raised going to the Adopt The Arts Foundation.
The companion film gets two screenings at the Plaza Theatre on Sunday 13 September, a 3pm community showing for Palm Springs Unified School District students and families, and a 7pm public screening with a conversation between Sorum and a guest yet to be named, plus a silent auction. The film combines the March performances with the rehearsal footage and Sorum‘s commentary.
Every musician who appeared gave their time free. The foundation, which Sorum started with Jane Lynch in 2012, works in underserved public elementary schools across Los Angeles and the Coachella Valley and reaches more than 4,000 pupils a year.
