Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor performed a special acoustic solo set this past Saturday (April 5) at the Spookala horror and pop culture convention, held at the Florida State Fairgrounds – Expo Center in Tampa, Florida. Footage of the performance is available below.

This follows Taylor’s return to the acoustic stage on March 22, when he played what he described as his first solo acoustic show in over three years at the HorrorHound Weekend convention in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The concert setlist for Spookala show was as follows:

Corey Taylor’s solo collection of covers and B-sides from the CMF2 sessions, titled CMF2B… Or Not 2B, was released digitally in May 2024. Prior to that, it was made available on April 20, 2024, through BMG as part of last year’s Record Store Day.

Taylor spent much of late 2023 on tour in support of his second solo album, CMF2, which dropped in September. The record marked his debut release under BMG and his own label imprint, Decibel Cooper Recordings. It was produced by Jay Ruston (known for his work with Anthrax, Steel Panther, and Amon Amarth), who also produced Stone Sour’s 2017 album Hydrograd and Taylor’s 2020 solo debut, CMFT.

In January 2024, Corey Taylor canceled his planned North American solo tour, citing mental health challenges. He later opened up to Alternative Press about reaching a low point early that year, prompting a reassessment of his lifestyle and work habits, particularly around touring. He told the magazine: “I found that my pursuit of work and all things ego was killing me. And nearly killed me. So I’ve reinvested my life to the point where I’m only going to work so much. I’ll never be gone from home for more than two and a half weeks. I’m putting importance back on the things I really value. That is the greatest gift I could give myself and my family.”

CMFT included the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart-topping single “Black Eyes Blue” and the viral hit “CMFT Must Be Stopped” featuring Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie. The album peaked at No. 6 on Billboard’s U.S. Top Rock Albums chart.
