Children Of Bodom are heading back to one of metal’s biggest stages. The Finnish melodic death metal greats have been confirmed as co-headliners of the 2027 edition of the Tuska festival, sharing top billing with American deathcore juggernaut Lorna Shore. The event runs July 2–4, 2027 in Suvilahti, Helsinki.
Children Of Bodom and Lorna Shore lead an early lineup that already spans several corners of extreme metal. Also confirmed so far are Heaven Shall Burn, Kanonenfieber, Fox Lake, Gaerea, Avralize and Sinizter, with many more names still to be revealed.
The booking marks another step in Children Of Bodom‘s return to the stage following the loss of their leader. This past February, members of the band played two shows at Helsinki’s Tavastia club under the banner “Children Of Bodom – A Celebration Of Music,” honoring guitarist, vocalist and main songwriter Alexi Laiho.
Those tribute concerts brought together original members, bassist Henkka Seppälä, keyboardist Janne Wirman, drummer Jaska Raatikainen and early guitarist Alexander Kuoppala, alongside longtime friend Samy Elbanna of Lost Society, who stepped in to carry the guitar and vocal duties. The response was strong enough that the band is now bringing that new chapter to a full festival headline slot.
Laiho, widely regarded as one of the finest metal guitarists of his generation, died on December 29, 2020 at his home in Helsinki. Elbanna‘s playing at the Tavastia shows was praised as a fitting tribute to his legacy, and that same spirit will carry over to the Tuska stage in 2027.
