Cavalera Conspiracy have cancelled their appearance at today’s edition of Hellfest after what the band described as an “unforeseen accident” involving their tour bus on the previous day.
The announcement came directly from the band, who shared an update explaining that the incident could have had far more serious consequences. In their statement, they wrote: “Cavalera regretfully are unable to perform today at Hellfest due to an unforeseen accident yesterday. We are very grateful for the driver’s skills at preventing what could have been a deadly bus crash. The band is devastated to not be able to bring Chaos AD to this great festival and to the French fans. We hope to be able to return with our Chaos in the future. X Max & Iggor“
The cancellation marks a sudden interruption in the band’s ongoing European run celebrating Chaos A.D., the landmark album originally released by Sepultura and now being performed live in full by the Cavalera brothers’ project. The tour has been one of the most extensive tributes to the record to date, taking the band across major festivals and club venues throughout June and July.
Prior to the incident, Cavalera Conspiracy had been steadily working through a packed schedule that included some of Europe’s biggest metal festivals as well as intimate headline shows.
