Founding Sepultura members Max and Igor Cavalera brought the groundbreaking sounds of their 1993 masterpiece, Chaos A.D., to a massive stadium audience on Saturday night, delivering a powerful performance of the classic album as the opening act for Slayer‘s sold-out show in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
The special one-off performance took place on September 20 at Hersheypark Stadium, Slayer‘s only U.S. East Coast appearance of 2025. The 30,000 fans in attendance were treated to a rare opportunity to hear the influential, groove-laden album performed live on a stadium scale by the brothers who created it. Fan-filmed footage of the set has now begun to surface online.
Performing under the Cavalera banner, the brothers were joined by Max‘s son, Igor Amadeus Cavalera, on bass and Travis Stone on lead guitar. The band tore through a setlist dominated by the most iconic tracks from the classic album, including “Refuse/Resist,” “Territory,” and “Slave New World,” as well as their celebrated cover of Black Sabbath‘s “Symptom Of The Universe.”
This special stadium appearance is part of Cavalera‘s larger, ongoing U.S. tour celebrating the legacy of Chaos A.D. The band is currently on a headlining run with support from industrial metal pioneers Fear Factory. The powerful performance at the Slayer show was a fitting tribute to an album that changed the face of heavy metal, and for fans across the U.S., the ongoing tour is a rare chance to witness the original architects of that sound performing one of their most celebrated works.
