The Violent Hour have released “Screenager“, with a guest solo by Attila Vörös, ahead of Rocklahoma, Louder Than Life and Aftershock.
The Violent Hour, the band Carla Harvey formed with Charlie Benante, released a new single, “Screenager“, on Friday. It arrived with a visualiser, and a full music video is to follow.
Harvey wrote the lyrics about what the internet has done to how people treat each other.
“We wanted to write something that felt as relentless as the endless scroll,” Carla said. “Musically, ‘Screenager‘ channels the aggression and energy of early Metallica but opens up into huge, soaring melodic choruses. Lyrically, it’s about how we’ve traded genuine human connection for digital validation, and how anonymity has fueled a growing lack of empathy by making cruelty feel consequence-free. We’re more connected than ever, yet somehow we’ve never felt further apart.”
The guitar solo came from outside the band. ‘We asked our friend Attila Vörös to lay down the guitar solo for ‘Screenager‘, and he absolutely delivered with a combination of ’80s shred and modern melodic metal that only he could pull off.’ Carla added.
Three festival appearances follow this autumn.

The band came together in 2025, after Carla left Butcher Babies in July 2024 following fourteen years as a founding member. She and Benante, the Anthrax and Pantera drummer, whom she married in October last year in a ceremony officiated by Gene Simmons, wrote the material together. Their self-titled debut EP came out in July 2025 through Megaforce Records, with Carla handling all lyrics and vocals and Benante writing the music and playing every instrument. John 5 of Mötley Crüe plays the solo on “Sick Ones“, and Zakk Wylde appears on “Hell Or Hollywood“.
A touring lineup was announced the following month: guitarists Kiana De León and Allie Kay, bassist Jewel Steele and drummer Sasha De León. The two De Leóns had previously played together in the Pantera tribute band Far Beyond Hostile and the covers project Vixen Vendetta.
“As a huge fan of the ’90s Riot Grrl movement, I’ve dreamed of having an all-girl band my whole life. After a long search, I finally found them. Four incredible women who share the same drive, passion, and fire that fuels me. We are The Violent Hour and we are your new favorite band,” Carla said at the time.
A debut full-length album is in progress.
Carla was born in Detroit and moved to Los Angeles at twenty, taking acting roles including a part in “Rules Of Engagement” while playing in local bands. Alongside music she took a Bachelor of Mortuary Science, graduating as valedictorian, and a Master of Science in thanatology, and worked as a licensed funeral director and embalmer while touring with Butcher Babies. She now works as a grief specialist for Parting Stone, a company that converts cremated remains into solid stones, and has published several comic books and a novel, Death And Other Dances, in 2014. In January last year she also joined Lords Of Acid.
Benante, meanwhile, has Anthrax‘s twelfth album Cursum Perficio arriving on September 18, their first in a decade.
