Carla Harvey, Former Butcher Babies Singer, Reveals Touring Lineup For New Band The Violent Hour

A new chapter has begun for former Butcher Babies vocalist Carla Harvey with the official announcement of her new band’s touring lineup. The project, titled The Violent Hour, is a return to Harvey‘s rock ‘n’ roll roots, and she has assembled an all-female lineup that she describes as a dream come true.

Joining Harvey on this venture are Kiana De Leon on lead guitar, Allie Kay on rhythm guitar, Jewel Steele on bass, and Sasha De Leon on drums. The De Leon sisters bring a powerful pedigree, having previously played together in the Pantera tribute band, Far Beyond Hostile. This new lineup will perform material from the project’s debut EP, which was written and recorded entirely by Harvey‘s fiancé, Anthrax and Pantera drummer Charlie Benante.

The EP has already made a splash with its two singles. The first, “Sick Ones,” features a solo by Mötley Crüe guitarist John 5 and serves as a powerful anthem about cutting toxic people out of one’s life. Harvey noted that the song came from a vulnerable period, and she found its message of freedom and empowerment resonated deeply with fans.

The second single, “Hell Or Hollywood,” features a blistering guitar solo from Zakk Wylde and is a deeply personal track for Harvey, chronicling her early days on the Sunset Strip. The video, filmed at the legendary Rainbow Bar & Grill, is a nod to the venue’s iconic status as a rock landmark. Harvey called the experience a “full-circle moment,” as the Rainbow was a destination she dreamed of as a young girl in the Midwest. The video playfully incorporates lookalikes of rock legends like Lemmy and Janis Joplin, adding a layer of nostalgia and tribute to the gritty rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle she sought.

Meanwhile, Charlie Benante explained that his motivation for creating the project was to lift Carla‘s spirits during a difficult time, and he intentionally wrote music that paid tribute to her influences, such as Guns N’ Roses and Aerosmith. He said the music flowed out of him and was unlike anything Carla had done before, reflecting a new beginning for the vocalist.
