The “Putrefying Down Under” run was due to open in Perth on September 22. Carcass say Dan Wilding cannot be away from home and existing tickets will stand.
Carcass have called off their entire run through Australia, New Zealand, China and India, three weeks before it was due to begin.
The band said drummer Dan Wilding is dealing with a family situation and needs to be at home. They declined to say more.
Carcass wrote:
“We’re incredibly sorry to announce that we have decided to reschedule our upcoming ‘Putrefying Down Under‘ Australia / NZ tour along with our China and India dates.”
“Our drummer Dan is facing a deeply upsetting family situation, and his priority right now is being with his family. Out of respect for everyone involved, we won’t be sharing further details, but we hope our fans will understand that this is a situation where family has to come first and he simply cannot be so far away from home for so long.”
“We know how much people have been looking forward to these shows, and postponing them is not a decision we have taken lightly. We are working on rescheduled dates and will share further information as soon as we can.”
“For our fans in India, Bangalore Open Air will still go ahead as scheduled, and we sincerely encourage everyone to attend the festival, support the other bands performing and be part of what will still be an incredible day.”

Brujeria were booked as guests on the Australian capital city dates, though not Townsville or Auckland, and those would have been their first shows in the country in nine years. Local support acts had also been announced across the run, among them Psycroptic and Necrophage in Townsville and Just One Fix and Soul Void in Auckland.
The band’s statement indicates that Bangalore Open Air will run without them. Carcass encouraged fans holding tickets to go anyway and support the rest of the bill. The festival, held annually since 2012, is India’s only dedicated open-air metal event and has previously worked in partnership with Wacken Open Air.
Australian outlets have reported that the “Putrefying Down Under” dates are expected to move to September 2027, though the band themselves have said only that rescheduling is under way. Tickets already bought will be honoured.
Carcass formed in Liverpool in 1985 and spent their first years inventing goregrind before 1993’s Heartwork laid down much of the template later followed by melodic death metal. The band is Jeff Walker on bass and vocals, founding guitarist Bill Steer, Tom Draper on guitar and Wilding on drums.
Wilding joined in 2012 and has played on every Carcass release since, including their most recent album Torn Arteries in 2021. He also drums on Kai Hansen‘s solo album Born With A Hammer, due later this month.
