For their upcoming U.S. tour, legendary death metal act Cannibal Corpse will feature a guest guitarist in their lineup. Brandon Ellis, formerly of The Black Dahlia Murder, has been tapped to fill in for guitarist Rob Barrett for the duration of the trek, which kicks off in September.
Ellis, a highly respected figure in the extreme metal scene who rose to prominence with Arsis before his seven-year stint with The Black Dahlia Murder, announced his new role via social media. His departure from the latter band was confirmed in February, and this new gig marks his first major touring commitment since. Ellis‘s experience and technical prowess, honed over years with multiple bands, make him a suitable replacement for Barrett.
The tour is set to begin on September 15 in Nashville, Tennessee, with supporting acts including Municipal Waste, Full of Hell, and Fulci. The tour will see the band play over two dozen cities before wrapping up on October 22 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Ellis‘s full statement regarding his new role is as follows:
“I will be playing guitar with Cannibal Corpse this fall, standing in for Rob Barrett. I’m honored to help out and put on a killer death metal show for you all. See you there!”
The guitarist’s addition to the Cannibal Corpse lineup is a temporary one, with Barrett expected to rejoin the band for future commitments.
