The highly anticipated “Poisoned Ascendancy Tour,” a co-headlining venture of Bullet For My Valentine and Trivium meant to celebrate their iconic albums, has abruptly stalled. Metal fans in Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan who eagerly awaited this unique pairing will now miss out, as the remaining international dates have been quietly cancelled. Reports suggest a breakdown in the collaboration between the two bands.
Originally unveiled with great excitement at a joint press conference last year, the tour was slated to span all of 2025, celebrating the 20th anniversaries of each band’s breakthrough album. After completing successful runs in the UK and Europe earlier this year, everything appeared to be going smoothly. However, with just a handful of U.S. dates remaining, the partnership is unexpectedly coming to an early end.
Although no official joint statement has been released, some insight into the situation emerged during a recent livestream by Trivium bassist and co-vocalist Paolo Gregoletto. When questioned about the tour’s sudden end, Gregoletto spoke candidly.
“Matt Tuck [Bullet For My Valentine guitarist and vocalist] didn’t want to do it, after we had planned it, after stuff was already in the works — don’t know why,” Paolo said (as transcribed by ThePRP). “I think it would have been amazing… I think the two records pair very well together. And I think it would have been nice to give everyone around the world a chance to see the two together.”
Trivium also hinted at the unexpected conclusion of the tour — and the tensions behind it — in a carefully crafted Facebook post. They wrote yesterday (May 11): “As we bring ‘The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour’ to an end, with just 4 SHOWS LEFT, make sure you don’t miss your chance to come out and celebrate this 20 year anniversary with us!”
Currently, only four shows remain on what has turned into the final North American leg of the tour, with August Burns Red and Bleed From Within as the supporting acts.
