Buckcherry say all members and crew are unharmed after their tour bus was caught in a fatal crash on I-26.
Buckcherry‘s tour bus was caught up in a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina at around 2am on Friday 21 August. The band have confirmed that everyone travelling with them came through it unhurt. A man died at the scene.
Buckcherry posted the following to social media:
“At approximately 2:00 AM Friday morning, Buckcherry’s tour bus was involved in a multi-vehicle accident on I-26 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina.”
“We are extremely grateful to report that all members of Buckcherry and our touring crew are safe and unharmed.”
“Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life.”
“Buckcherry’s scheduled performance tomorrow at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is expected to proceed as planned.”
“We sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out with concern and support.”
A representative for the band later clarified that the fatal collision happened before their bus reached the scene, and that the driver was also unharmed.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a man had been involved in a single-vehicle crash near mile marker 31 on the eastbound carriageway and had got out of his car. He was struck by a Toyota sedan travelling east and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His identity has not been released while the investigation continues. All eastbound lanes were closed for several hours and reopened at around 10.30am.
Investigators have not set out where Buckcherry‘s bus sat within the sequence of collisions, or whether it made contact with any other vehicle. The circumstances of the initial single-vehicle crash have not been explained.
The band had played The Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina on Thursday night, roughly 70 miles north-east of where the crash happened, and were travelling south when it occurred. The Fort Lauderdale show went ahead as planned on Saturday.
The dates are in support of Roar Like Thunder, released in June 2025 through Round Hill Records in North America, Sony Music in Japan and Earache Records elsewhere. As with 2023’s Vol. 10 and 2021’s Hellbound, it was cut at Sienna Studios in Nashville with producer Marti Frederiksen, whose credits include Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Jonny Lang and Sheryl Crow. All ten songs were written by singer Josh Todd, guitarist Stevie Dacanay and Frederiksen.
Todd is the only original member left in a lineup completed by Dacanay on guitar and backing vocals, Billy Rowe on guitar and backing vocals, Kelly LeMieux on bass and Francis Ruiz on drums. Dacanay joined when the band reformed in 2005 and played on 15, the album that produced “Crazy B**ch” and “Sorry“.
