Bruce Dickinson Plays Iron Maiden’s ‘Flash Of The Blade’ Live For The First Time With His Solo Band (Video)

Bruce Dickinson’s 16-song set featured solo favorites plus two live debuts: “Shadow of the Gods” and Iron Maiden’s “Flash of the Blade.”

Bruce Dickinson Live 2025

Bruce Dickinson has kicked off his highly anticipated North American solo tour with a special surprise for fans, performing an Iron Maiden song that has never before been played live. The first show of “The Mandrake Project Live 2025” took place at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California, on August 22.

The 16-song setlist for the night was a mix of tracks from Dickinson‘s seven solo albums, including the live debut of two songs: “Shadow of the Gods” from his latest album and “Flash of the Blade” from Iron Maiden‘s 1984 album, Powerslave.

During the show, Dickinson introduced the Iron Maiden song by saying, “Nobody has ever played this song, apart from on the record, of course, but nobody has ever played this song.” He added that the idea to perform the deep-cut came from his wife, who pointed out that it was a fan-favorite that had never been played live. Dickinson said he and his band, which he refers to as a “great crew,” are so flexible that they can change the setlist on the fly. He also noted that he will be adding the Iron Maiden song “Revelations” to the setlist for his upcoming performance at a festival in São Paulo, Brazil, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his first performance in the country.

The “The Mandrake Project Live 2025” tour continues across North America and includes a brief dip into Brazil for a festival appearance. The full setlist from the Anaheim show, along with the complete list of tour dates can be seen below.
