Fans in London were treated to a massive surprise yesterday night, Saturday, February 21, when Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson made an unannounced guest appearance at the Smith/Kotzen show.
Teaming up with his long-time bandmate Adrian Smith and guitar virtuoso Richie Kotzen, Dickinson took the microphone to deliver a live rendition of the classic track “Wasted Years“.
You can watch the footage down below.
The Smith/Kotzen live lineup is rounded out by a powerhouse rhythm section featuring two talented Brazilian musicians: bassist Julia Lage (who is also Kotzen’s wife) and drummer Bruno Valverde of the heavy metal act Angra.
Smith/Kotzen group is currently on the road promoting their highly successful sophomore album, Black Light/White Noise. Originally released in April of last year, the record was a massive commercial success, claiming the number one spot on both Billboard‘s Top Hard Rock chart and the UK’s Rock & Metal Albums chart.
Their partnership began with the 2021 self-titled debut album, which also saw considerable success, charting in the UK Top 20 and gaining a strong foothold across Europe and the Americas. The duo received great reviews for their live shows in both Europe and North America, then reunited in 2024 to record their latest release.
Following their current run of shows, Smith/Kotzen will be taking their tour to Brazil later this spring. The band is scheduled to perform at Tork n’ Roll in Curitiba on April 24, followed by a major festival appearance at Bangers Open Air in São Paulo on April 26.
