Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes was involved in a concerning incident Monday night during the band’s concert at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. While performing, the vocalist was struck by a mobile phone thrown from the crowd, joining a growing list of artists targeted by projectiles during live sets.
The disturbance occurred as the British rock group was finishing “Happy Song“, the fourth track of their performance. The device appeared to hit Oli Sykes in the head or chest area before landing on the stage. The singer immediately halted the music to address the audience directly.
“Who the f**k just threw a phone?” Oli Sykes asked. After retrieving the device and handing it to stage security, he added: “Cheers, though, that was sick.”
While the band finished the concert, fans in attendance expressed immediate worry regarding the singer’s health. Reports from the venue suggested that Oli Sykes appeared disoriented and was seen touching his temple frequently throughout the rest of the night. One attendee alleged that his temple appeared “swollen and scratched up pretty bad,” while another noted the singer admitted to feeling “dizzy” following the impact.
Despite the physical toll of the incident, Bring Me the Horizon is moving forward with their scheduled North American dates. The band is set to perform in Kansas City, St. Paul, and Chicago this week before headlining the Sonic Temple festival in Columbus this weekend.
Following their current U.S. run and a series of European summer festivals, the band will return to North America this fall for the “POST HUMAN: NeX GEn – THE THIRD ASCENSION PROGRAM” tour. This upcoming leg is expected to focus heavily on Canadian arenas, continuing the cycle for their latest creative era.
