Bad news for Romanian metalheads: Blind Guardian have officially canceled their appearance at this year’s Rockstadt Extreme Fest, where they were scheduled to perform on August 2nd.
The band issued a brief statement explaining the situation: “We regret that Blind Guardian will not be able to perform at Rockstadt Festival in Romania on August 2nd.
“Hansi Kürsch has had to cancel at short notice due to illness.”
Shortly after the announcement, Rockstadt Extreme Fest organizers followed up with their own message to fans: “We wish Hansi good health and a speedy recovery! Health is always more important than one show! Due to the limited time available, we are unable to find a replacement for them, so we will proceed with the current lineup, although there will be changes in the running order.
“We also had a surprise planned after Blind Guardian‘s set—an announcement featuring around 20 new acts for Rockstadt Extreme Fest. That will still take place as scheduled.”
While the absence of Blind Guardian will definitely be felt, the festival continues with a stacked lineup and an exciting reveal still planned. Fans attending the fest should stay tuned for updated set times and the highly anticipated announcement of new bands.
Blind Guardian’s latest album, The God Machine, was released in September 2022 via Nuclear Blast Records. This marks the band’s first traditional studio album in seven years since Beyond the Red Mirror (2015), making it the longest interval between two Blind Guardian studio records—though they did release a separate project under the name Blind Guardian Twilight Orchestra three years prior.
