Founding Black Sabbath members Bill Ward and Geezer Butler are scheduled to make a special joint appearance at the upcoming Monsterpalooza horror convention. The event will take place from May 29 through May 31 at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California.

Fans of the heavy metal pioneers will have the rare opportunity to meet the legendary rhythm section for professional photo sessions throughout the three-day weekend. Organizers have outlined strict guidelines for attendees hoping to meet the musicians: fans must first purchase general admission event tickets through Eventbrite prior to booking any photo packages. Professional photo ops are being handled exclusively through the official photography company, Celeb Photo Ops. Additionally, organizers have noted that casual table selfies will not be permitted during the meet-and-greets.

Established in 2008, Monsterpalooza has cemented its reputation as the premier global convention dedicated to horror culture and special effects makeup. Due to overwhelming demand, the organizers successfully launched an autumn spin-off, Son of Monsterpalooza, in 2012.

The massive convention unites celebrated Hollywood monster-makers, actors, and directors for a weekend packed with exclusive screenings, detailed panels, and live presentations. The 2026 edition is expected to feature over 400 vendors offering a vast array of horror-related merchandise, alongside a packed schedule of celebrity guests.

Speaking previously with the Pasadena Star-News, Monsterpalooza creator and director Eliot Brodsky detailed the core mission of the massive gathering.

Monsterpalooza is really a celebration of the art of monster-making and the movie magic behind the scenes of creating creatures and characters and the stuff people see on screen,” Eliot Brodsky explained at the time.
