Biohazard’s Billy Graziadei Says New Album ‘Divided We Fall’ Is A ‘Direct Mirror’ Of Today’s World

With the release of Divided We Fall, Biohazard‘s first studio album in over a decade, guitarist and vocalist Billy Graziadei believes the band has delivered a record that is painfully relevant to the current global climate. In a new interview with “Chris Akin Presents,” Graziadei discussed the themes behind the new LP, suggesting that the hatred and division permeating modern society provided ample fuel for the band’s return.

According to Graziadei, Biohazard has always been a “product of our environment,” but the fractured state of the world today makes their message of unity more urgent than ever.

Divided We Fall, it is more timely now that there is no unity and there’s such division,” Graziadei told the host (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). “It was kind of like that a long time ago, and when I realized, being on tour and playing all those classic songs for the past couple years that our music is as timely and relevant now that it was then.”

The album, which arrived on October 17 via BLKIIBLK, sees the classic lineup reuniting to confront these issues head-on. Graziadei explained that the title itself—originally a line from the track “F**k The System“—became the perfect summary for the collection of songs.

“We don’t pull any punches, we speak how it is, but unification and unity and survival has always been an underlying theme for us,” he said. “Divided We Fall is a direct mirror of what we’ve seen, collectively, not just in the past couple years since we’ve been [back] together… it’s how we’ve seen things have gone over the past 10 years, the past decade.”

Reflecting on the band’s early days, Graziadei noted a maturity in their current perspective. While albums like Urban Discipline and State of the World Address were reactions to immediate surroundings, the new record offers a broader view.

“It’s almost like we’re the same microscope, we’re the same telescope that we were back then, and we’re just looking through it with a little bit more educated eyes,” Graziadei elaborated. “We’re not so quick to form judgment or to judge, and we could see things a little bit bigger… We’re a little bit older and wiser. We see the big picture, and Divided We Fall kind of sums that up.”

The new album also holds a personal significance for the guitarist, marking a full embrace of his identity within the group after years working on side projects like Powerflo and BillyBio.

“Being in Biohazard, it’s a different thing. It’s part of who I am. It’s in my DNA for so long, I can’t deny it,” he admitted. “We’re stronger together than we are separately.”

Divided We Fall was recorded at Shorefire Recording Studios in New Jersey and The Hydeaway in California, with engineering by Joseph DeMaio.
