Biohazard Drummer Danny Schuler Auctions Iconic Kit To Aid Lou Koller’s Cancer Fight

Biohazard drummer Danny Schuler has launched a special auction to support his longtime friend and peer, Sick Of It All vocalist Lou Koller, who recently revealed that his battle with cancer has taken a difficult turn.

Schuler is auctioning off his tour-played Orange TAMA Superstar drum kit, with all proceeds going directly to assist Koller with his medical expenses. Fans interested in owning a piece of hardcore history while supporting a legendary figure can place their bids now. For those unable to bid on the drum kit, a GoFundMe campaign remains active to accept direct donations.

The fundraising effort comes in the wake of heartbreaking news shared by Koller earlier this fall. On September 30, the New York Hardcore icon posted a candid video update revealing that his esophageal cancer had returned, just months after he had celebrated being declared cancer-free.

In the video, a visibly thinner Koller addressed his fans with his trademark resilience and dark humor.

“Hey, everybody. What’s up? It’s Lou here. I don’t know if you could tell it’s me, with my new skeletal look that I have going on,” Koller said. “Here’s an update for you. It’s not what I wanna make, but, unfortunately, the cancer’s come back and he brought some friends with him.”

Koller explained that his recovery had stalled, prompting him to seek further medical testing.

“I was having a really hard time with my recovery. I was having a tough time gaining weight and keeping food down. So I had some scans done, and sure enough, he is back. But we’re gonna take it day by day and see what happens.”

The recurrence is a devastating setback for the vocalist, who was first diagnosed with an esophageal tumor in June 2024. After a year of grueling chemotherapy and treatments, he was initially cleared in May 2025. Now, he faces a new round of treatments starting from “square one.”

Despite the diagnosis, Koller expressed deep gratitude for the continued support from the community.

“I wanna thank you all again for your moral support. The way you all reach out to me still is very — thank you very much. But I’ll keep you updated and let you know how it goes. All right? We’ll see you soon.”

The hardcore community has rallied around Koller since his initial diagnosis. A massive benefit concert, “I’m In The Fight With Lou,” was held in New York City in November 2024, featuring performances from Life of Agony, Municipal Waste, and Vision of Disorder. The GoFundMe campaign launched by his brother and bandmate Pete Koller has also raised over $300,000, with contributions from major acts like Rancid, AFI, and Dropkick Murphys.
