Billy Morrison says Marilyn Manson supported him after he delivered a eulogy at Ozzy Osbourne‘s funeral, and that led to their Hollow collaboration.
Billy Morrison has released his fourth solo album, Hollow, and one of its twelve tracks exists because of a conversation at Ozzy Osbourne‘s funeral.
The record arrived today, August 7, through TLG | ZOID, and it puts two of its most talked-about guest vocals into circulation for the first time. Marilyn Manson fronts “The Tailor“, while Mudvayne singer Chad Gray takes “Devil In Your Eyes“.
Speaking on SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation“, Morrison explained how the Manson track came together. He started with his own history of substance abuse and Manson‘s sobriety before describing what happened in England.
“I would not be able to make these records or hang out or even talk to you if I was loaded. You wouldn’t want that. I’m an idiot when I’m using, like most of us. Manson is a joy to be around. He’s a lovely man. I reconnected really seriously at Ozzy’s funeral. I had to do one of the eulogies in England at the house and I haven’t been in that kind of state in a long whilem,” he said.
He added: “I was really emotional and he helped me. He helped me a lot. Unconditional love. He just, you know, he put his arm around me and he said a few things and that meant the world, and then you know, we got back to America and I said, ‘Listen, I’ve got this track and there’s only one person that can sing it and it’s you,’ and he loved it and we did it.”
The weight behind that moment is worth spelling out. Morrison and Osbourne were friends for around 30 years, and Morrison flew to England to speak at the funeral after Osbourne died on July 22, 2025 at the age of 76. He described the day to Guitar World last week as the hardest he has been through, and delivering the eulogy as one of the hardest things he has ever had to do.
Manson, meanwhile, remains one of the more contested figures in rock. Evan Rachel Wood and several other women accused him of abuse in 2021, which he has consistently denied. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office declined to file charges in January 2025 following a four-year investigation, citing the statute of limitations and insufficient evidence.
Hollow runs on the same split that shaped its predecessor. Six songs feature Morrison on lead vocals, and six hand the microphone to guests. Sully Erna of Godsmack and Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme share “Becoming“. Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses appears on “Leave No Trace“. Dexter Holland of The Offspring sings “Never Gonna Change“. Chuck D of Public Enemy, B-Real of Cypress Hill and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run-DMC all turn up together on “No Suspects“, and Steve Stevens guests on “Another Dayb.

The album follows 2024’s The Morrison Project, which produced the number one Active Rock song in America with “C***k C***ine“, a track Morrison co-wrote and recorded with Osbourne and Stevens. A deluxe edition landed in 2025, and its bonus track “Gods Of Rock And Roll“, another Osbourne and Stevens collaboration, reached the Active Rock top ten on both Mediabase and Billboard.
Morrison has played rhythm guitar alongside Stevens in Billy Idol‘s band for 17 years. He is a former member of The Cult and Circus Diablo, and also performs with the covers outfit The Royal Machines.
