The wait is over—Beyond the Gates has dropped the first wave of names for its 2026 edition, and it’s already shaping up to be massive. The fourteenth installment of the Bergen-based extreme metal festival will take place July 29 – August 1, 2026, spread across multiple venues in the city, including the legendary Grieghallen and USF Verftet.

Leading the announcement are the mighty Emperor, returning for a very special set featuring former members Mortiis and Faust. Known worldwide as one of the most influential black metal bands to ever rise from Norway, Emperor has pushed atmospheric black metal to heights no one thought possible. Their appearance at Grieghallen promises to be a true return to the roots.

They won’t be alone. Fellow Norwegian titans 1349, Arcturus, and Misotheist are all confirmed, alongside returning fan-favorites Imha Tarikat and The Ruins of Beverast.

On top of that, Beyond the Gates 2026 is putting a spotlight on underground excellence, with Spectral Wound, Warning, Forteresse, Sulphur Aeon, and Concrete Winds all making their festival debut.

Since its launch, Beyond the Gates has grown into a global metal gathering, drawing fans from over 50 countries every year. It’s become a true pilgrimage for extreme metal supporters, and 2026 looks to raise the bar even higher.

Festival passes are on sale now at this location.
