Polish extreme metal veterans Behemoth have released “I, Scvlptor“, the title track and first single from their forthcoming studio album of the same name. The accompanying music video was created by the acclaimed Polish production collective Grupa 13, while the album artwork and visual design were once again handled by longtime Behemoth collaborator Bartek Rogalewicz.
Adam “Nergal” Darski commented: “‘I, Scvlptor‘ is a new Behemoth song rooted in the tradition of monumental tracks like ‘O Father O Satan O Sun!‘, ‘Lucifer‘ or ‘Nieboga Czarny Xiądz‘, while at the same time opening a new chapter. It carries that epic weight but also takes an unexpected turn that makes it feel fresh and different from the previous pieces. Lyrically, it is a metaphor for the endless process of shaping oneself — an uneven struggle with matter and personal limitations. The paradox is that from the moment we are born we are already destined to die, so perhaps it is not about victory itself, but about the constant act of sculpting who we are.”
Slated for a worldwide release on September 4, 2026, the 40-minute standalone record will be distributed physically through a massive new partnership with Massacre Records. The highly anticipated drop will be available across various physical formats, including CD, vinyl, cassette, and a limited-edition box set.
Thomas Hertler, label manager for Massacre Records, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the prestigious distribution deal.
“Behemoth are one of the most powerful and iconic forces in extreme metal, and we could not be more honored to bring I, Scvlptor to their fans on CD and vinyl worldwide,” Thomas Hertler stated during initial announcement. “This is a landmark moment for our label, and we are fully committed to giving this release the presentation it deserves.”
The new effort comprises eight tracks, bringing together entirely unreleased studio material, re-recordings of early classics, and legendary cover songs. Fans will finally hear modern, re-recorded versions of “Rise Of The Blackstorm Of Evil” and “In Thy Pandemaeternum“.
Furthermore, Behemoth honors their foundational influences with two monumental covers. The record features a crushing rendition of Venom‘s 1981 classic “In League With Satan“, featuring a guest appearance by Dimmu Borgir frontman Shagrath. Additionally, a live performance covering Bathory‘s “The Return Of Darkness And Evil” makes the cut, enlisting the vocal talents of Sakis Tolis from Rotting Christ.
Nergal highlighted how the new body of work bridges the gap between the band’s underground roots and their current creative evolution.
“I, Scvlptor is Behemoth‘s latest full-length release — an autonomous work that bridges our past with what is new and fresh,” he explained. “It features brand-new, previously unreleased tracks that embody the full force of our live energy, intensity, and the fire that has driven this band for decades. We also revisited our earliest material, reshaping it with a modern edge while preserving its ancient spirit.”
