In a notable development within the alternative metal scene, Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz, widely known as the frontman for multi-platinum certified band Bad Wolves, has officially taken on the role of live bassist and backing vocalist for Falling In Reverse. He made his debut with the multi-platinum act over the past weekend, performing at Germany’s ‘Rock am Ring‘ and ‘Rock im Park‘ festivals as part of Falling In Reverse’s summer European festival run.
Laskiewicz expressed his awe following his second show with Falling In Reverse at Rock am Ring, posting on Instagram: “Most intense show I’ve ever played. 90,000 heads, my 2ND show with FIR. Insane…i’m speechless. Forever Grateful.” The status of Falling In Reverse‘s previous bassist, Tyler Burgess, remains unclear, though fans quickly observed that Burgess had unfollowed the band and its controversial frontman Ronnie Radke on social media approximately a month prior, suggesting his departure.
This new collaboration might not come as a complete surprise to those following Laskiewicz’s social media. Back in February, he shared an Instagram post praising Ronnie Radke and Falling In Reverse, recalling a specific moment of support. “I had a really sh**ty show one night on the Falling in Reverse/ Papa Roach tour and was feeling dumb low. Wanted to “quit” music honestly,” Laskiewicz wrote. He added, “Ronnie sat with me after our set, listened and was super kind. Dude was understanding, supportive, gave me advice and hit me with exactly what i needed to hear. Straight up coach Radke moment, lol he got me so hyped…It had to do with some heckling pos, and Ronnie jokingly (or not lol) was down to go fight this dude. I’ll never forget that.” He also noted, “In a industry where a LOT of people ‘Cool guy’ the s**t out of you, he didn’t. I’ve always been able to sniff out people’s bs, real recognizes real, and in this world where I’ve met/interacted with some fake mfr’s, Ronnie is the truth.”
This unexpected move for Laskiewicz comes amidst recent and significant lineup changes within Bad Wolves. This past April, Bad Wolves parted ways with guitarist Doc Coyle and bassist Kyle Konkiel. Simultaneously, guitarist Chris Cain rejoined the group, and Kevin Creekman was newly brought in as bassist. These shifts followed a tease in March from former Bad Wolves vocalist Tommy Vext, who hinted he was “About to be a part of the craziest comeback story in the industry’s history.” The situation is further complicated by the fact that Kevin Creekman has also served as the bassist for Vext‘s solo ventures. Before joining Bad Wolves, Laskiewicz was known for his guitar work with The Acacia Strain.
