Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose had a unique and humorous response for a persistent fan during the band’s recent show in Florianopolis, Brazil, on October 21.
As the band’s Latin American tour continues, one audience member repeatedly shouted for the Appetite for Destruction deep cut, “Think About You.” The request eventually caught the singer’s attention, prompting Rose to pause and address the fan directly.
Acknowledging the song, Rose shared a strange anecdote from his day.
“I heard that request, but we haven’t played that in a while,” Rose told the crowd. “But I just want to say it made me think. I had Chinese food today and I got a fortune cookie that gave me a Chinese fortune in Brazilian Portuguese that told me to think about life.”
After a brief cheer from the audience, Rose delivered the punchline: “I kind of went, f**k that!”
Rose‘s comment about not playing the song “in a while” is an understatement. According to Setlist.fm, Guns N’ Roses has not performed “Think About You” live since 2006.
More significantly, the track has not been performed with guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan in 38 years, with its last performance by the classic-era members dating back to 1987. It remains the only song from the band’s diamond-selling debut album, Appetite for Destruction, that the reunited lineup has not played since Slash and McKagan’s return in 2016.
While this specific request was comically dismissed, the band has been surprising fans by incorporating other rarities into their recent setlists, including “Dead Horse,” “Locomotive,” and “Pretty Tied Up.”
