Avenged Sevenfold side project Statica has now shared official lyric videos for each of the four tracks on its self-titled EP, which arrived unexpectedly in July. You can check it out down below.
Statica, the pseudonymous guise the band has been operating under, put out an official music video for its title track, “Statica,” at the end of July.
Helmed by director Lance Drake and filmed in Northridge, California, the clip pulls from the four-song EP that appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, roughly a week ago. As with everything else tied to Statica, there was no press push and no explanation — just the video, quietly made available.
Avenged Sevenfold dropped the record with zero warning, letting fans stumble across it on streaming platforms rather than announcing it. Clocking in at 18 minutes and 7 seconds, the release gathers four tracks, “Lights,” “Statica,” “Rejoice” and “Ashes“, and marks a hard pivot into unfamiliar territory, trading the group’s metal instincts for robotic, processed vocals, sci-fi synths and pulsing electronic dance rhythms.
The anonymity hasn’t just been a matter of paperwork. When the material got its first live airing, the band leaned all the way into the concept. At the opening night of their co-headlining tour with Good Charlotte, held July 25 at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Ridgedale, Missouri, “Statica” was slyly listed on the bill as a separate opening act, slotted in just before Good Charlotte. But rather than take the stage in the guise, the band performed the entire EP from backstage, out of the audience’s sight, with the set piped onto the venue’s video screens. Fans could hear the music but never see who was making it, a fitting extension of the faceless approach.
The Statica venture is the latest turn on a road Avenged Sevenfold have been traveling for years. It follows their 2023 album Life Is But A Dream… and the standalone single “Magic,” which surfaced in December as part of the Season 1 rollout for the video game “Black Ops 7“, a placement billed as one of the largest seasonal content drops in “Call Of Duty” history. On the production side, the EP was co-produced by Joe Barresi and mixed by Neal H. Pogue, pairing that has helped give the songs their glossy, left-field sheen.
For now, the band continues to let the work speak entirely for itself. Avenged Sevenfold have yet to publicly acknowledge the project behind it, keeping the release fully independent and keeping the mystery, very deliberately, intact.
