Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) has confirmed the first-ever liquid vinyl pressing of Audioslave‘s sophomore album, Out Of Exile. Slated for release on June 12, 2026, the reissue celebrates the platinum effort from the supergroup, which featured vocalist Chris Cornell alongside Rage Against The Machine members Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk.
The upcoming release features audio remastered from the original source material by Levi Seitz at Black Belt Mastering. Fans will have the option to purchase the album in two formats: a standard 180-gram black vinyl and a limited-edition direct-to-consumer black liquid vinyl. The latter pressing is inspired by the album’s original cover art and comes housed in a custom die-cut gatefold jacket designed to display the liquid disc.
Originally issued on May 23, 2005, Out Of Exile debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and later earned platinum certification from the RIAA. The album, co-produced by the band and Rick Rubin, generated several major rock radio staples. The single “Be Yourself” topped Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock chart, while “Doesn’t Remind Me” secured a Grammy Award nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance.
During the original promotional cycle, Chris Cornell described the record as his most autobiographical body of work to date. Having achieved sobriety and domestic stability, he noted a sharp contrast between this material and his earlier songwriting, which was heavily rooted in a “dark, lonely, isolated world.” With this album, he was writing from a clear perspective centered on joy and “the ability to feel loved.”
The frontman explained that his marriage and impending fatherhood left him “constantly inspired,” removing the need to rely on darkness as a creative catalyst. The resulting studio sessions marked a period of artistic renewal for the group, capturing a more cohesive and confident sonic identity.
Prior to the album hitting shelves, Audioslave debuted several tracks from Out Of Exile during a landmark free concert in Cuba. Performing for an estimated crowd of over 70,000, they became the first American rock act to play an open-air show in the country. The historic performance was subsequently captured and released on the Live In Cuba DVD.
